Abstract
"For exemplary contributions and leadership in developing ethics and social responsibility in students," Dr. Karen Panetta, an IEEE Fellow, was named the 2013 IEEE Dinstinguished Ethical Practices Award winner. Dr. Panetta is a professor of electrical and computer Engineering at Tufts University and director of the Simulation Research Laboratory. Her research focuses on developing efficient algorithms for simulation, modeling, and signal and image processing for security and biomedical applications. A brief professional biography is given. She is the 2013 IEEE USA vice president of communications and the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Women in Engineering Magazine.
