Abstract :
In this paper we present the design and implementation of a plug-in board for the National Instruments Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite II (NI ELVIS II). The board makes it possible to develop, analyze and optimize microprocessor-based control systems for the Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motors. The following requirements were satisfied: - compactness: the plug-in board integrates most of the necessary elements and the corresponding diagnostic tools to effectively design the BLDC motor control systems; - versatility: a possibility to develop the control systems based on different microcontrollers for BLDC Motors equipped with various types of sensors (such as encoders or resolvers); - agility: rapid software development of control systems is achieved by using NI LabVIEW graphical programming environment and NI Lab VIEW additional toolkits (for example, NI LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Toolkit). The designed NI ELVIS II plug-in board combined with the graphical programming environment NI LabVIEW makes an effective tool that can be used in education, research and development.
