Abstract :
In a recent the usage of bicycle has increased steeply in Korea owing to the traffic culture of well-being. In car to bicycle accident, inspecting the throw distance of bicycle is very important for reconstructing of the accident. The variables that influence on the throw distance of bicycle can be classified into the factors of vehicle and bicycle, and road condition. In this study, collision tests of actual car to bicycle were executed for obtaining the throw distance of bicycle at crashing of bicycle to vehicle. For these tests sand bags containing the absorbing materials to impact energy were used for the behavior of bicyclist instead of dummy, and vehicle was automobile type having safety equipment for avoiding danger after crashing. Vehicle velocities used in tests were 30km/h and 60km/h, and the moving angles of bicycle were 0° and 45° to car at crashing. Also bicycle types were fairy cycle. The test results are expected as very useful things for exact reconstructing the accident in car to bicycle accident.
