Abstract :
Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) means to automatically collect data from different kinds of meters. In this way consumption of water, gas and energy can be remotely measured. This paper describes an AMR system based on Power Line Communications. Smart meters are connected through a LonWork type industrial bus to a Gateway. The Gateway sends messages to the meters and reads the collected data. It communicates, through GSM, with a Data Acquisition Center (DAC) were data is processed. The software part of the gateway is focused.
