Abstract
Different approaches have been developed to provide technical support for mobile learning. Most these approaches consider only the physical properties of learning environment. In this work, we not only focus on the physical/spatial dimension of the learning environment of the city, but also pay attention to the notion of Place which is a meaningful outcome of peoples understanding of Space. This paper illustrates how a theoretical conceptualization of Spaces and Places is mapped into a multi-agent framework called AGORA. It presents the design aspects of a mobile learning system, which uses software agents as its core functional units. We discuss how the theoretical concepts are used to define a technical solution to support mobile learning in a citywide context.
