Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate whether low carbon agriculture could create new jobs for surplus labor in rural china. A path analysis model is used to analyze the determinants of rural labor demand. The result shows that chemical fertilizers and energy consumption have significant negative correlation with employment in primary industry. To reduce the consumption of chemical fertilizer and industrial energy could create job opportunities for rural labor. Agricultural mechanization needs to be improved in China, which is benefit both to the development of low carbon agriculture and the transfer of rural surplus labor.
