  • Abstract
Traditionally, some of the charging tables keep running even when there is no slab on them, which generates a waste of energy. The authors have developed a new method to solve this problem. In this method, the tables run and stop according to the positions of the slabs, which gain more effective utilization of energy. Two key points are discussed in the method. One is the slabs position tracking method and the other is automatic speed control method for charging tables. On site application in a 3500 mm plate mill of Tangshan Steel Co. shows that the new mothod saves 15% of power compared with the traditional method.
