Abstract :
Border is an importance feature of the surface. Extracting the visible contour is significant in theory and practical application. The paper proposes a fast method for extracting the visible contour of triangular meshes. The method can extract the visible contour at arbitrary viewpoint by transforming 3-dimensional data to 2-dimentianal data quickly and accurately. At the same time, it also can extract visible contours at different precision. Experimental results show that our method is much more practical than the known typical algorithm.
