Abstract :
Linear motors directly convert electricity into linear moving mechanical power without special mechanical adjustments. Because of its special benefits, linear motion is widely used in industry automation. So how to design and choose a linear motor becomes more important. Ansoft, the analysis software, is based on Maxwell differential equations, and it turns the calculation of electromagnetic field into the solution of Matrix by Finite Element Methods(FEM). This paper firstly introduce the fundamental principles of electromagnetic field and FEM. Then one type of Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM ) produced by the Copley Company in England is modeled and its magnetic field is analyzed by a soft named Ansoft. Based on the models, the paper analyzed the influence on gap size, magnet thickness and arrangement forms of the permanent magnet. The result can be used to choose and design PMLSM.
