Abstract :
Fuel cell based hybrid vehicles represent a promising future technology direction, given their high energy conversion efficiency and zero emissions. However, besides the cost and manufacturing issues, a number of technology challenges have to be resolved in order to make the large scale application of fuel cell vehicles a reality. In this presentation, we will discuss a number of representative control problems on fuel cell vehicles, and explain some of the associated solutions. The goal is to expose those challenges to control engineers and researchers, in the hope that it will stimulate further efforts from this community that will lead to new innovative solutions and speed up the introduction of the fuel cell vehicles for the benefits of sustainable energy and clean environment.
