Abstract :
A novel photocathode using surface plasmon resonance has been proposed. We designed a photocathode and measured the photoelectron current by changing the light incident angle. We observed the enhancement of the photoelectron current in the region predicted theoretically. The photoelectron current linearly increases with increase of the incident laser power and the photoelectron current is increased by the Cs coating. These results indicate that the photoelectron currents are ascribed to the photoelectric effect due to the surface plasmon resonance.
