  • Abstract
Common mode voltage (CMV) is responsible for electromagnetic noise and bearing damage of an ac motor. This study presents the consistency between double line voltage synthesis (DLVS) and space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) on matrix converter, and proposes two improved DLVSs based on SVPWM, which can effectively reduce the maximum CMV. Both methods can reduce the peak value by 42.3% while keeping the local average values of the output voltage and the input current unaffected. In addition, compared with the existing optimised zero vector modulation, two strategies can improve the output and input current qualities, respectively. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
