Abstract :
Standardization has been recognized as an important step for technology adoption in recent years. Research on the process of standardization is still in its early stages because standardization takes a long time to implement. Context dependency in the standardization process is another factor that complicates the neutral research on the standardization process. The author provides some observations on the modern standardization process of the application layer. Then the author explains the implications for technology standardization from a viewpoint of techno-sociology.
