Abstract :
Sensor networks operate without any infrastructure thus, they are very vulnerable in security. Especially, the false report injection attack makes the sensor nodes become compromised and injected false information. So, the life of legitimate nodes is getting shorter rapidly. Ye et al. proposed the Statistical En-Route Filtering of Injected False Data in Sensor Networks (SEF) as a security technique about the false data injection attack. SEF can verify that whether a report is false report or not through the en-route filtering. But if the number of false reports is very small, SEF can waste a lot of energy by verifying the many legitimate reports as well as the false reports. In this paper, we suggest a method to use the limited energy of nodes efficiently in sensor networks by controlling the probability of attempts to verify a report using the fuzzy logic. The attempts to verify the reports probability is determined in consideration of the number of neighbor nodes of each node, the number of hops from each forwarding node to the BS, and the ratio of false reports which are received from a neighbor node. Hence, we can expect the method will be more efficient than SEF to decrease energy consumption to verify the event reports in sensor networks.
