Abstract :
This paper deals with permanent magnet excited synchronous machines (PMSM) exclusively with tooth-coil winding for sensorless respective encoderless control including overload range. A large number of winding configurations with different fractional slot factors greater and less than 1/3 are analyzed and evaluated for sensorless control and short-circuit capability resulting in construction and design rules for this kind of PMSMs.
