Abstract :
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/epoxy composites with different MWCNTs contents have been prepared by solution polymerization method. The MWCNTs were firstly surface functionalized by ultrasonic dispersion in mixed acid appropriately. The mechanical properties and thermal properties of the composites were investigated by SEM, Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer and Charpy Impact Tester. The results indicated that the strength and thermodynamics of the composites were dramatically improved with the addition of MWCNTs from 0.1wt% to 0.7wt%. The composites with 0.7wt% MWCNTs content exhibited the highest mechanical and thermal value. The impulse strength and thermal decomposition increased by 51.9% and 15.32°C, respectively.
