Abstract
In this paper, we develop a test system for audio and video packet transmission. Using this test system, the decoding efficiency of different codec standards for video and audio are got. Having been applied in broadband network situation, 3GPP TS26.234 protocols have been added to the streaming media terminals in the test system in order to make them applicable in mobile network. Besides, a simulation platform is used in this test system in order to test the decoding performance of different audio and video packet transmission in real network environment. The same video or audio test sequences are encoded with different codec standards used in the test system (Video codec standards are H264, H263 and MPEG4-Video. Audio codec standards are AMR and MPEG4-Audio.). The experiment results show that packet performance and decoding efficiency of H264 and MPEG4-Video are better than H263 but packet performance and decoding efficiency of MPEG4-Audio and ARM are almost the same in the network condition with the same loss rate.
