Abstract :
This paper is the second one in a series of two papers presenting the main results obtained, which are analyzed in view of the present RSECE Portuguese national regulation. The goal of this paper is the determination of the energy saving potential that can be obtained through computational simulation, using DesignBuilder/Energyplus software. It presents the simulated values of the impact on the energy consumptions of a building, caused by heating, cooling, shading and artificial lighting control systems set to maximize the use of daylight and its effect on the building energy performance labeling. The work developed was based on a real case-study of a school building located in central Portugal. The basis for the work was a computational model of the building, adequately calibrated and validated using field measurements. The monitored data was used to evaluate Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) conditions and to calibrate a number of thermal simulation models of the building.
