Abstract :
With the rapid development in management and information technologies, consumers require for products not only on-time delivery, multiple functions, high quality, but also traceability. Manufacturers are required to pinpoint and recall defective products fast and in time, assuring consumers safety and preventing any potential risks. The purpose of this paper is to develop a product tracing module (TRC) for enterprise resource planning system (ERP). We illustrate the concepts of product tracing, including upstream and down-stream tracings for raw materials or components, and a preventive tracing for suppliers or outsourcers. The workflow integration of ERP and TRC is discussed. We also present a digital camera example for the operations of TRC.
