Abstract :
Parallel FDTD algorithm for simulating anisotropic media with arbitrary permittivity and permeability is developed. It is found that for the anisotropic medium, the field components at one FDTD mesh node can be obtained by the data at the neighboring 28 mesh nodes. The communication rules of the data between these neighboring 28 nodes when locating in different adjacent sub-domains are discussed in detail. Parallel efficiency and speed-up ratio of the algorithm are also studied, which confirms the feasibility and effectiveness of the parallel computing. The correctness of the algorithm is verified by comparing the result of a sphere obtained by the method in this paper with those in the references. The parallel FDTD algorithm is then applied to the uniaxial crystal titanium dioxide sphere and ellipsoid, and the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the sphere and ellipsoid are calculated and studied.
