Abstract :
In this paper we proposed an improved method to design the statically thinned arrays with low side-lobe patterns. This method applied the statistical thinning and quantized element weights into the large-size apertures of ellipse array which was divided into a number of rectangular grids. With our improved method, a substantial reduction of side-lobe was obtained compared with the classical method [8].
