Abstract
The target of this paper is to analyze the impact of smart traffic handling scheme over the transmission power of UMTS base station in multilayer network. Multimode and multiband network was considered for the research work of this paper. In UMTS, base station power is shared among all users and it is limited source. Downlink (DL) transmission power of UMTS base station is proportional to the cell loading, required service type, and interference coming from other cells. In this paper, different interference factors were considered to study the influence of smart traffic handling scheme over transmission power in different interference scenarios. Smart traffic handling scheme discussed in this paper is based on the distance of user from the base station and the required service type.
