Abstract
The problem of minimization of backscattering from bodies coated by a thin dielectric layer with complex permittivity is considered. For the cases of the plane and circular cylinder surfaces transcendental equations for optimal permittivity are numerically solved and analyzed. In particular, it is revealed that the asymptotical passage from the cylinder to the plane is seen in fact at not too large radii, only a little larger than ka = 2.
