Abstract :
Optical true time-delay beamformer for 10 GHz phased array radars with a unit time-delay of 12 ps is demonstrated and described. It is composed of an array of optical sources and fiber-optic delay lines with 2×2 optical switches. The most large time delay error for the optical TTD was measured to be less than 1.6 ps, corresponds to the radiation angle error of 2.1° from the main beam direction of 28.7°.
