Abstract :
In this paper, we describe a passive bistatic radar system which uses digital video broadcasting satellites (DVB-S) as transmitters of opportunity. The system was developed with pedagogical purposes and uses low-cost off-the-shelf components. The resulting system provides students and researchers with a realistic environment for implementation, development and/or testing of existing and new algorithms. The applicability of the passive radar system is demonstrated in a real environment.
