Abstract
The recent years mark a considerable progress in SAR techniques and systems. Radar imaging has been demonstrated at high frequencies and bandwidths never reached before. Miniaturized SAR systems have been developed which can be operated on board of small UAVs. Last but not least advanced imaging techniques have been demonstrated, e.g. bistatic SAR - even in a forward looking configuration, and new concepts of spatial temporal diversity based on the Multi-Input Multi-Output concept are arising (MIMO-SAR). A considerable set of these techniques and technologies have been developed at Fraunhofer-FHR in the last two decades. In this paper we will give an overview on the SAR research at FHR and introduce some of the institute´s experimental systems.
