Abstract :
Ocean waves imaging with synthetic aperture radar is a promising tool, to retrieve ocean surface wind fields, coastal submarine topography, etc. even to detect submarine targets from near space. In this paper, a high-efficiency SAR simulator for ocean waves imaging is presented, which is developed based on Graphic Processing Unit. The simulator can construct the sea surface elevation and the corresponding radar cross section in a sequential way, to demonstrate the dynamic characteristics of sea surface. Then, the SAR raw data, backscattered from wide-swath dynamic ocean surface, is generated and processed in real time. In addition, relevant examples are given to show the simulator potentialities, and verify it useful to test other specific SAR processing techniques.
