Abstract :
The Detection and analysis of neural spike activity is a prerequisite for studying many types of brain functions. In this paper, we introduce an open source toolbox built in MATLAB called SPKtool for spike analysis. SPKtool functions support common requirement for analysis of neural spikes, including spike detection, feature extraction, manual and semi-automatic clustering methods and graphical tools for spike train analysis. It is possible to perform the whole procedure of spike analysis with SPKtool. The toolbox provides a flexible batch processing mode, which can significantly accelerate the analysis when data set is large. Most functions are GUI independent, and can be import to other MATLAB based applications. This toolbox may also serve as a routine base for electrophysiological program developers.
