Abstract
A new method of surgical instruments automatic identification and counting based on template matching is proposed in this paper. This method includes three steps. Firstly, preprocess the image of surgical instruments acquired by camera; secondly, extract feature and create template library of surgical instruments; at last, complete surgical instruments automatic identification and counting using shape-based template matching and image pyramid. Experimental results show that the accuracy can achieve 97%.
