  • Abstract
    We present research on how to build sustainable broadband networks in rural areas of developing regions. Due to an increasing political awareness of the importance of ICT for development, many such regions are now being networked. The specific design considerations are due to the technical and non- technical challenges found in those areas. Our research includes a pilot implementation in rural Tanzania.
