Abstract :
This paper is an overview of Doppler and polarimetric radar methods for remote sensing of the atmosphere developed for detecting and predicting dangerous weather phenomena zones along the route of the airplane. In addition to such traditional phenomena as turbulence, hail, icing-in-flight and thunderstorm, the approaches to distinguish areas of volcano ash is also included into consideration. Perspective directions for further development are revealed.
