Abstract
A new switched-beam FMCW positioning system is presented in this paper, which consists of a conventional FMCW transceiver and a switched-beam antenna array. The FMCW transceiver is used to estimate range information, while the switched-beam antenna array is employed to determine target´s angular position as well as to suppress the interferences in sophisticated multipath indoor environments. The 2-D indoor positioning experiment was conducted in a 6.45 × 6.75 m2 space, which demonstrates precise positioning accuracy with a mean distance error of 17 cm and mean angle error of 2.5, respectively.
