Abstract :
This paper describes the development of a two-dimensional location estimation method with a pair of leaky coaxial cables to be used for a wide area surveillance system based on microwave sensor system. Currently, there exists a demand of not only a intruder detection but also a behavior monitoring around a site for enhancing security in the market. However the conventional system can detect intruders and find each location of the intruder along the cables in one-dimension. Therefore, we propose a two-dimensional location estimation method with a pair of the leaky coaxial cables. Once the two-dimensional location estimation is realized, it will be able to find a target approaching to the site and trace it. The position of the target is measured based on the time of arrival techniques. Experiment results are presented to show that the proposed method is indeed feasible.
