  • Abstract
This paper presents a comparison between two realizations of a simple wireless data transmission system based on the RFID concept. As a response to a growing interest into wireless monitoring of various parameters remotely, the authors developed a RFID system of limited complexity to be used as a test platform. The receiver module has been based on either an analogue PLL-based decoder, which was developed initially for an environment typical in aeronautics, or a dedicated digital system realized on a FPGA platform. The performed experiments were aimed at comparing performance of the two realizations of the low-complexity RFID-based data transmission solution under conditions similar to those expected in short- distance, wireless monitoring. The paper concludes with a description of the results of the performed measurements.
