Abstract :
Selection of proper feedback signal for power system damping controller is vital to enhance its performance. In this paper, three different methods are evaluated to select the most effective signal to damp power system oscillations. The damping is obtaining by modulating power electronic device of the system. It is shown that how different feedback signal affects the performance of power system damping controller in the event of small and large disturbance. During this work three methods namely, controllability/observability, residue and hankel singular value is used to select wide-area feedback signal and their performance is compared. Nonlinear simulations are carried out to validate the performance of signals under system nonlinearities.
