Abstract :
A lowered ADCP (LADCP) with acoustic telemetry was developed and tested in the sea in recent years. The shell of the underwater part can withstand pressure for ocean depths up to 6000m. The LADCP system is able to obtain both water profile and bottom track data in a single ping. Acoustic telemetry is mutually combined with LADCP and no acoustic or electronic interference is found between them, so there is no need for cast LADCP system with shield cable winch and direct-reading CTD. The LADCP profiling method was studied, and good deep velocity profiling results for sea test data were achieved.
