Abstract
By making use of a magnetic levitation project, postgraduate students experience the application of control concepts in a practical manner and at the same time see the application of theory. This paper presents an approach to the classic magnetic levitation problem that incorporates the electromagnet into a transconductance amplifier. The system transfer function is simplified and using output position feedback demonstrates how successful suspension was achieved.
