  • Abstract
    This paper presents the use of PHEVs in wind farm as an implementation of Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology for power smoothing in generation systems, where power flow variations can occur. A system model with wind farm and a dynamic model of PHEVs are introduced here based on third order battery model. A feed forward compensating control strategy is presented to improve the wind farm´s performance. A simple battery scheme is proposed for the, control of the charging and discharging of the PHEVs using a power electronic interface. Simulations have been carried out and demonstrate that the PHEVs have the potential to combine wind farm´s output and provide a constant output power. This analysis will cover the performance of wind generation with PHEVs, as well as the stability analysis of the power grid to demonstrate that use of PHEVs as battery energy storage system, can improve overall dynamic response of a wind farm.
