Abstract
This paper presents the design and evaluation of a fuzzy predictive controller for a distributed solar collector (DSC) plant. A Takagi and Sugeno (T&S) fuzzy model of the DSC plant is identified and used for characterizing and predicting the nonlinear behavior of the system. The proposed fuzzy predictive control strategy is compared with conventional control techniques. Simulation results indicate that the fuzzy predictive controller captures adequately the nonlinearities of the process, which in turn provides a promising control approach to improve the performance of the DSC plant.
