  • Abstract
Brain computer interfaces(BCI) are systems that establishes a communication path between brain and a computer without user movement. They are used in a broad field of applications: control of neural prostheses, appliances and electronic games. The paper presents the modular implementation of a brain computer interface based on SSVEP paradigm. Hardware and software modularity were the goals of the design in order to achieve the flexibility and adaptability required for a real life usage system. A two channel BCI was developed based on portable modules and embedded processors. A custom designed visual stimuli generator with 4 independent channels and a feature extraction method for SSVEP based BCI were also developed.
