Abstract :
A thorough study of organic solar cells containing P3HT:PCBM blend led us to analyze and thereby improvise a way of optimizing the device performance. The basic features of the study of external quantum efficiency (EQE) for different composition of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT): [6,6]-phenyl C60 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blend has been included in order to show the spectral contribution of different wavelength. The study shows that the maximum EQE can be obtained around the 500 nm wavelength, which led to the opinion that the performance can be improved by means of spectral conversions. In accordance to this proposition convenient fluorescent dyes has been suggested which are capable of meliorating the performance of the device through spectral conversions. The aim is to upgrade the device performance as well as the solar cell efficiency.
