Abstract
A radix converter comprises a plurality of automata each combined of Moore and Mealy design. The automata are connected in cascade with the digits of the input number applied serially to one of the automata. The output of Moore machine in each stage is utilized to get the respective coefficient of the number in the transformed radix. The output of Mealy machine is determined both by its current state and the current inputs. The combination of Mealy machine and Moore machine helps us to find out the quotient and remainder of any input string, where this concept gives us a brief description about the base conversion technique.
