Abstract :
Automated and early diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy is a crucial need. `Diabetic Retinopathy´ (DR) is the major cause of blindness among people. It is a progressive disease classified according to the presence of various clinical abnormalities. DR patients perceive no symptoms until the disease is at late stage. So early detection and proper treatment has to be ensured. To serve this purpose, various automated systems have been designed. A number of studies have investigated diabetic retinopathy and this paper deals with the analysis of the blood vessel detection methods available for automated diagnosis which have been recently introduced.
