Abstract :
This paper presents congestion management, rotor angle and voltage stability and TEF (transient energy function) approach for transient stability assessments. Congestion has a direct impact on security and reliability of the system, improper implementation of congestion management can seriously infringe the free trading of electricity. For the transient stability assessment by using rotor angle stability and voltage stability, mainly MATLAB simulink is used. The major two stabilities Rotor angle stability and Voltage stability constraints are dealt in detail. It can be seen that these two stabilities goes hand in hand. The energy margin methods are found good for online transient stability assessment, one of the method is PEBS (potential energy boundary surface). The PEBS method algorithm is successfully implemented on MATLAB platform for single machine infinite bus system. Results are verified with equal area criterion and energy function method. In spite many significant accomplishments in recent years in the application of the direct methods, modeling limitations and unreliability of computation techniques continue to be major impediments to their widespread practical use. The direct methods are vulnerable to numerical problems when one is solving stressed systems.
