  • Abstract
    In order to overcome the inherent coupling effect and the sluggish response of scalar control the vector control is employed. By using the vector control, the performance of the AC machines can be made similar to that of a DC machine. In this paper to achieve high performance the vector control of the Permanent magnet synchronous motors drive is employed. Two-axis mathematical modeling is presented for PMSM. The basic idea of the vector control algorithm is to decompose a stator current into a magnetic field-generating component and a torquegenerating component. After decomposition both components can be separately controlled like dc machine. To implement the vector control two-axis model is obtained for PMSM. Mathematical model for PMSM is presented in d-q reference frame. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified by simulation in MATLAB SIMULINK environment. The performance of proposed controller is investigated for different speed and torque command values. The effectiveness of proposed controller is verified through extensive simulation results.
