Abstract :
Electrical distribution system is the final stage in the supply of electric energy to consumers. A serious problem faced in power distribution today is due to the major losses accompanying electricity distribution. As a result utilities in the power sector are currently focusing on its reduction in order to be more competitive, since the electricity prices in deregulated markets are affected by the system losses. To incorporate a loss minimization plan in a power distribution system it is necessary to make use of potential and efficient load flow computation techniques that permit quantifying the loss in each individual network element for overall system losses reduction. The study documented in this paper reveals an impressive improvement in voltage regulation in addition to significant minimization in distribution losses that can be obtained by the integrated implementation of static var compensator [1] and distributed generation in a radial feeder distribution system.
