Abstract :
The main focus of the construction industry is to ensure that projects are successfully completed within the constraints of best quality, stated period and at minimum cost possible. The implementation of QMS in Construction Industry is meant to assist the industry to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization management system in ensuring successful objectives of company. This study is carried out to analyze the factors that impact most on the effective implementation of, and improvement to, Quality Management System´s (QMSs) amongst Indian construction industries. Ten critical factors were identified from an extensive literature review, and a survey was conducted of 20 respondents from a specific group of Project Managers and site engineers undertaking work in the Indian construction sector. The data has been analyzed initially using simple descriptive techniques. This study reveals that different groups within the sector have different opinions of the factors regardless of the degree of importance of each factor. All the factors ie., employee empowerment, continuous training, process improvement, work environment and culture were reflected of excessive importance by most of the respondents in those two groups for the successful implementation of QMS in Indian Construction Industry.
