            Abstract :
Since the introduction of the extension principle by Zadeh, the arithmetic of type-2 fuzzy numbers has gained importance both from the theoretical and the practical point of view. In many practical applications, the need for a permanent switch from a type-2 fuzzy representation to a numerical representation is patent. This paper addresses the parametric representation of type-2 fuzzy numbers and arithmetic operations on type-2 fuzzy numbers using extension principle. We also proposed a new defuzzification method based on graded mean integration representation. It can be used in type-2 fuzzy optimization problems.
