Abstract :
Fusion criteria for dense cylindrical and sheet z-pinches [1] are investigated and compared with each other. It is difficult to achieve the inertia fusion limit of cylindrical z-pinches. The fusion criterion is considerably relaxed in the dense sheet z-pinches. Hence, one dimensional liner compression by means of two plane conductors is more effective than the two dimensional compression by imploding cylindrical liner.
