Abstract :
The Magneto-plasma-dynamic (MPD) thruster has been investigated for next generation pollution-free engine for interplanetary travelling and position modification of the satellite, and it has been used for initial plasma generation at the magnetic mirror device. We have fabricated the MPD thruster, which has maximum 1 kV, 10 kA, and 1 ms pulse duration. And we have measured the density and temperature of sheath plasma from the thruster with Langmuir probe and double probe. Also propagation velocity of sheath plasma has been measured by optical probe.
